Remembrance
Dorothy Crill, wife of Doug Crill editor of Open Book Press, lost her battle with bone cancer and has passed away. Doug, who took care of Dorothy over the past year, wants to thank all of you who have sent your kind words to him and his family through this very trying time. Due to the current circumstances a part of the Open Book Press operations will have to be temporarily suspended.
Dorothy was a wonderful wife and mother to her two grown daughters and will be missed by all who knew her. From my experience with Dorothy, she was a great soul whose love and compassion knew no bounds. She was the inspiration for Doug, his touch stone and refuge. It's with a grateful heart that I came in contact with her through Doug.
It's with assurance that we will some day all meet again. What a wonderful day that will be.
Thank you,
Daniel Frey/art director OBP

OBP Announces New Submission Guidelines
Open Book Press after its recent trade
name acquisition by Dark Dance Productions, LLC, announces new
submission guidelines for it's graphic novel, comic book and
children's books. The new guidelines are needed so that Open
Book Press can compete in this tight and ravenous market, says
Daniel Frey art director at OBP. Competition means we produce
a product that meets and exceeds our competitors by focusing
on story first and professional illustration second. Our submissions
guidelines are tough and rigorous but we sincerely believe that
we should and must produce the best mass market story we can.
For those up to the challenge jump over to Open
Book Press.com.

Dark Dance Productions Acquires Trade Name
of Open Book Press
Dark Dance Productions, LLC
is in negotiation with it's publisher Open Book Press of Canada
to acquire it's trade name. Doug Crill and Daniel Frey will become
the business managers of OBP while the acquisitions takes place,
while Mike Gagnon will supervise and direct creative submissions
from the Canadian office. This represents a bold move forward
for Dark Dance Productions, says Daniel Frey visual coordinator.
The coming year will represent many challenges. However, we sincerely
believe that we can move both companies forward into the current
tight market of graphic novel and comic book publishing by focusing
on a select high quality, broad market appeal story and art.
Dark Dance was formed to first publish extraordinary stories
and then pitch them to the feature film industry. To that end,
Dark Dance Productions will bring excellent new story lines in
a ready format to film production companies both independent
and established.
Dark Dance Productions dedication
to the finest in graphic novels will also shortly announce a
new imprint focusing on the children's book market. All guidelines
for submissions will be posted in the coming months.
This will be a new company from
the ground up, says Doug Crill future managing editor of the
New OBP. New contracts, a new management team and a totally new
direction on all fronts will take place. We look forward to the
challenges and the future of the New Open Book Press.
